Background:

Raya Development Association in Canada (RDA Canada) received a request to assist fifteen individuals who were on the verge of starvation in Wargba.

As per the request, these individuals were experiencing the early stages of starvation, and some of them were leaving their village to migrate elsewhere  looking for food, therefore, in need of urgent food aid.

RDA Canada independently verified the information provided, and inline with its charitable purposes to Provide Relief of Poverty, its board approved and released $180,000 birr to help these individuals.  

RDA Canada anticipates that this aid will be enough to support the individuals for the next three months in the hope that more substantial aid will reach them from governments or other NGOs soon.

RDA Canada transferred the funds to its representative; he was able to purchase and distribute the aid in collaboration with the social affairs officer of Raya Azebo. 

Each person received:

·       100 kg of sorghum (መ ሸላ), estimated cost $8,000 Birr.

·       5 Litters of cooking oil, estimated cost $1,000 Birr

·       $3,000 Birr cash for supplemental food items.
