Background:

Raya Development Association in Canada (RDA Canada) received a request to financially assist twelve high school students who were struggling to stay in school due to extreme poverty.

These students are either internally displaced or students who walk long distances from their villages to attend classes at this school, and could not afford to rent rooms nearby. The head of this school expressed  his concern that these students may drop out of school because of shortage of food, clothing and inadequate school supplies.

RDA Canada independently verified the information; and consistent with its charitable purposes to provide Relief of Poverty and to promote the Advancement of Education, released funds to support the students until the end of the current school year.

RDA Canada transferred the money to its intermediary, and the money was deposited in a trust account to be distributed to the students on a monthly basis for  shelter, food, clothing, and school supplies for six months starting January 2024.

RDA Canada will follow-up with the students and the school principal at the beginning of each month to ensure the students are receiving their monthly financial support.
