Humaniterian Crisis in Kolla Tembien
The Raya Development Foundation – Canada (RDF) is providing urgent relief, but the need is far greater than our resources.
Urgent Help is Needed!!
Emergency Relief for Kolla Tembien, Tigray
Just a few years after surviving a devastating war, the people of Kolla Tembien in Ethiopia’s Tigray region are now facing a new crisis: a severe and prolonged drought.
Crops have failed. Water sources have dried up. Over 18,000 livestock have died, leaving thousands of families without food, income, or support. Many of these remote communities have yet to receive any humanitarian aid.
The Raya Development Foundation – Canada (RDF), a grassroots, volunteer-run charity, is working to deliver urgent relief—food, water, and basic supplies—to the most affected areas. But the scale of the crisis is far beyond our current resources.
We are launching this emergency donation campaign to respond quickly and effectively.
Your contribution can make a direct, life-saving impact.
💛 Please donate today. Together, we can bring hope and relief to Kolla Tembien.

Emergency Cash Assistance to Tabia Yaqer, Kola Tembien
September 16 2025
Background
The Tigray region continues to face a severe humanitarian crisis caused by recurring droughts, prolonged conflict, and widespread food insecurity. Reports from regional media, including Tigray TV, highlight the devastating impact on families in Kola Tembien, where many children suffer from malnutrition and preventable skin diseases. These conditions underscore the urgent need for timely and flexible humanitarian assistance.
Kola Tembien, a rural district in Tigray, Ethiopia, is characterized by rugged terrain and scattered villages. One of its local communities, Tabia Yaqer, has been especially hard hit. While donors such as the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia and other humanitarian partners have provided food aid, significant gaps remained—particularly in meeting essential needs such as medical care, clothing, and hygiene supplies.
